Ghost profits lawsuit appealed by former members gets 2020 hearing

Ghost frontman Tobias Forge, aka Papa Emeritus, won a lawsuit against his former bandmates in October of 2018. The lawsuit, which was filed in April of 2017, alleged that Forge cheated the members out of their rightful share of the profits made while with the band.

In addition, the former members were also ordered to pay Forge’s legal fees (around $146,000) and are now appealing the court’s decision. The appeal will be heard in March of 2020.

The previous lawsuit alleged that an agreed partnership existed between the members of Ghost, Forge included. All members performed anonymously, including Forge. In fact, Forge was only forced to reveal his identity during the lawsuit after performing as Papa Emeritus previously.

Forge stated that “no legal partnership” ever existed between him and the other members. Then, the Ghost frontman responded that they were basically session musicians and were paid a salary to reflect such roles.

The former members of Ghost, have reportedly spent over $320,000 on this lawsuit already; which has to show some investment in the cause.

“I had a situation that urgently told me to salvage the situation and reclaim what is mine and also justify that it was mine to begin with,” Forge said to the Pulse of the Radio regarding the lawsuit. “It’s just growing pains, and all this has just been — it’s the result of things going well, not the opposite.”
