Here's how Gibson is helping musicians fix up their guitars from home
Gibson is launching a new virtual guitar tech service that’s free for anyone to use worldwide.
The iconic guitar company is offering players the ability to use their fully interactive service which is pairing players with Gibson’s team of professional techs in real time.

The newly launched service is offering players at home the chance to get help with basic tune ups for guitar, bass, electric and acoustic players.
It’s being made available with techs covering multiple languages including Spanish, French, German and English. Time zones across Europe and North America are being taken into consideration with more regions being added later.
The new service is differing from online instructional videos as someone will be there to guide you along the way. One-on-one video chats will allow for a higher level of assistance and interaction when something gets confusing.
“In these unprecedented times, we all could use a little virtual help from an experienced technician to set up our guitars at home” says Cesar Gueikian, Chief Merchant Officer of Gibson. “With the Gibson Virtual Guitar Tech Service, we’re giving our fans around the world the support needed to set up and play our guitars at home.”
The service requires just two steps to get set up.
You can head to Gibson’s website to schedule a 30-minute consultation. Once in the chat, you’ll explain your instrument type, its condition and what problems you’re experiencing. The tech will then ask questions about your playing style and your experience working on setting up guitars. Then, they’ll give you a list of items required to fix the issues your experiencing.
Once that is complete, you’ll schedule a 60-minute video call to give you time to get the necessary supplies and tools. Then, they’ll walk you through fixing your instrument.

The video service calls are being held on Zoom which is also free to use.
Basic services like fretboard cleaning and conditioning, string changing tuning are available. More advanced tune-ups like adjusting a truss rod, pickup heights or setting a guitar’s action and intonation are also available upon consultation.
