The first trailer for Sony’s Goosebumps sequel has dropped, and the second film seems to not include Jack Black as R.L. Stine. However, the possessed ventriloquist doll known as Slappy will be making a sinister return.

Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween will take the same family-friendly spin on the children’s horror novels as the first film.

Goosebumps, released in 2015, showed a group of children who discovered R.L. Stine’s manuscripts, which in turn, release all of the monsters within them into the world. The sequel seems to take on the same approach, this time with a new group of kids.

The children, played by Madison Iseman, Caleel Harris and Jeremy Ray Taylor, find an abandoned house that contains one of R.L. Stine’s books entitled Haunted Halloween. Once they open the book, Slappy gets brought back to life, along with other horrible monsters.

The Goosebumps Twitter account teased the release of the trailer with a post apparently written by Slappy.

It hasn’t been confirmed whether or not Black will return for the film, but from the looks of the trailer, it’s not very promising.

Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween will arrive in theaters on Oct. 12. Check out the trailer for the film below.
