“The world lost a son, brother, uncle, artist, musician and loving friend this week,” Civ says in the Instagram post. “I lost my bandmate and friend of over 30 years, a piece of my heart died this week and all I can do is think of all the fun, shows, meals flights and trips we had together. All the late night talks and all the early morning hangs with him and my wife and kids. There will never be another Alex Brown.”

Brown was also a member of New York straight-edge groups Project X and Side By Side. Brown joined Gorilla Biscuits before their 1989 record Start Today was released.

According to Consequence of Sound, Brown also played reunion tours shows after the band’s initial break up back in 1992.

Additionally, Brown was a painter, CoS reports. You can check out some of his work featured at the New York gallery Feature, Inc. here.

Gorilla Biscuits’ “Start Today” was recently featured in a recent issue under 10 essential tracks for the new year. Additionally, Fall Out Boy covered the hardcore track.
