Grammy recap: Dave Grohl, Vampire Weekend, Black Sabbath among the winners

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards were tonight, and now that the dust has settled, we're here to give you a little recap of what went down–AP style.

Daft Punk, Daft Punk & Pharrell Williams and Lorde won top honors in the Album, Record and Song Of The Year categories, respectively, while Macklemore & Ryan Lewis were deemed Best New Artist.

Vampire Weekend took the Best Alternative Music Album category for Modern Vampires Of The City, beating out the likes of the National and Nine Inch Nails.

Killswitch Engage lost out Best Metal Performance to their elders in Black Sabbath, who took the trophy with God Is Dead?

30 Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto introduced a tribute to Lou Reed with Metallica, who went old school with a performance of 1989's “One” along with master pianist Lang Lang. Metallica Through the Never, the band's IMAX thriller, was nominated for Best Recording Package.

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and Miranda Lambert teamed up to cover the Everly Brothers' “When Will I Be Loved” in honor of the late Phil Everly.

P!nk and Fun.’s Nate Ruess performed “Just Give Me a Reason,” which was a nominee for Song Of The Year and Best Pop Duo.

Imagine Dragons and Kendrick Lamar performed a mashup of their respective tunes, “Radioactive” and “m.A.A.d City,” with the Dragons winning Best Rock Performance.

The final performance of the night came from NIN's Trent Reznor, Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme, Dave Grohl and Fleetwood Mac guitarist/singer Lindsey Buckingham. QOTSA were shut out of all three Grammy nominations for their newest album, Like Clockwork. NIN were nominated for Best Alternative Music Album (which Vampire Weekend won) and Dave Grohl was up for two awards based on his work on the Sound City: Real To Reel soundtrack, of which he won Best Rock Song for “Cut Me Some Slack” along with Paul McCartney, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear.
