In nearly all aspected, the 2019 Grammys were dominated by women.
In fact, the number of female winners increased by more than 80 percent this year than in 2018.
Last year, only 17 of the 86 awards were won by women or female-led bands, and only one woman won an award in a major category.
However, this year, 31 women won awards out of the 84 given. Also, more women were nominated in major categories. Cardi B became the first solo female rapper to win best rap album. Kacey Musgraves won album of the year while Dua Lipa won best new artists.
The entire night had a female empowerment vibe, especially when Michelle Obama joined Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Jada Pinkett Smith and Jennifer Lopez on stage to give an amazing speech.
We loved all of the girl power at the Grammys this year and hopefully it continues to future shows.

my final thoughts on the Grammys were that is was so incredible to see BTS there like a dream come true
I can’t wait for them to go back next year
also it was refreshing to see so many women win so many awards in an award show that typically does not let women shine brightest

.@DuaLipa threw subtle shade the president of the Recording Academy Neil Portnow. Last year he faced backlash when he commented that if women wanted recognition at the Grammys, all they needed to do was “step up”:
