Green Day seeking fan to host backyard gig ahead of ‘Father Of All...’

Green Day are known for their support of the punk community. Hell, they paid off the legendary Denny’s gig damages. Green Day were raised in California, going to house parties and garage shows. Now, they want to perform at one like the old days.

With Father Of All… set to release next month, Green Day want to host a wild party in a fan’s backyard.

In a video posted to Instagram, Billie Joe Armstrong talked about wanting to host the album’s release in one very lucky fans backyard or space. We would assume a bit unlucky if stuck with the cleanup but we can almost bet that Green Day will handle all of that.

Sorry to all of you non-Californians, the venue has to be in the Golden State.

“Hey! It looks like our new record is coming out in like a month or something, so we’re just planning some stuff… some surprises… but one thing I was thinking is – does anyone have a relatively big backyard that we could do a backyard party in? Somewhere where we could play at your house or your garage, or backyard – or I dunno, do you have a barn or a church or a church parking lot?”

You know I was conceived in a church parking lot. Anyways, just hijinx, fun, mischief – a backyard party with your favorite band Green Day!” Armstrong says.“Oh yeah, it would have to be in California.”

Green Day playing in your area is already cool enough. Next, imagine it being in your family’s backyard or your local church. No details have yet emerged about how tickets would work or the funds in general but stay tuned. We’re sure something will happen soon.

More Green Day

We’re exactly a month out from Green Day releasing their thirteenth full-length, Father of All Motherfuckers. With the title track “Father Of All…” and “Fire, Ready, Aim” already out in the world, the pop-punk mainstays have confirmed a third track is on the way.

The band took to social media to share the most appropriate GIF announcing “Oh, Yeah” will be released later this month. With it, they also confirmed a previously speculated tracklist that was anonymously sent to a fan.

The band first shared a post confirming they sent the tracklist by writing, “You never know what you’ll find in your mailbox ? Right @GreenDayMusic ? ??

They then launched a poll asking fans what’s happening a month from now.

They followed it up with asking if they should drop a new song soon.

Clearly a rhetorical question, Green Day announced “Oh Yeah!” will be released Jan. 16.

Father Of All Motherfuckers drops Feb. 7 and is available for preorder here now. Green Day will be prefacing the Hella Mega tour with solo appearances in Europe and Asia. They’ll join Fall Out Boy and Weezer in the U.S. beginning in July. Grab tickets here with the full list of dates below.
