Green Day talk early days: "Trying to get a gig was the hardest thing in the world"

Spotify is producing a new documentary called Green Day: The Early Years, which looks back on the origins of one of the biggest bands in the world.

The first chapter, aptly titled Sweet Children, has been released.

In Chapter One, Green Day, Laura Jane Grace of Against Me!, Fat Mike of NOFX and more talk about the legendary East Bay, Calif. punk scene.

At one point, Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt talk about how difficult it was to book gigs.

Green Day: The Early Years documents the band's beginning through to the release of their classic album Dookie.
