To match the song's emotional lyrics, the music video sees frontman Billie Joe Armstrong solemnly making his way through streets while bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tré Cool practice in a warehouse. Interwoven throughout the video are scenes from others' lives, creating a contemplative result that is a simply a pleasure to watch.

The music video comes after the band's explosive performance last night at the EMAs, where they took “American Idiot” and “Bang, Bang” to the stage. During “American Idiot,” Armstrong changed some lyrics to diss current presidential candidate Donald Trump.
