Greta Van Fleet respond to Led Zeppelin comparisons, “Let’s move on”

Greta Van Fleet are sick and tired of being compared to Led Zeppelin. However, in an interview with Rolling Stone, the band finally admit that the 70s rock band may have been a bigger influence on them than they’ve previously given them credit for.

Fans and critics have been pointing out that the band look and sound like Led Zeppelin for quite some time. Heck, even Led Zeppelin have called Greta Van Fleet, Led Zeppelin. Since first denying their influence, the band have come around and accepted their inevitable comparison. However, that doesn’t mean they like it.

“Obviously we hear the similarity,” frontman Josh Kiszka says in the interview with Rolling Stone. “That’s one of the influences of ours. But at this point, it’s like, ‘Okay, we’ve acknowledged that. Let’s move on.’”

Additionally, the band weigh on on Pitchfork’s scathing review of their latest album Anthem of the Peaceful Army.

If you recall, Pitchfork caused the indie-rock riot of the century after they gave the band a shockingly low score of 1.6. According to Rolling Stone, the band didn’t even read the review. However, Kiszka still has some thoughts about the rating.

“It’s unfortunate they’d be putting that energy out into the world, but it’s their prerogative, I guess,” frontman Josh Kiszka says. “Ultimately, I’d like to think that there’s substance to what we’re doing.”

With that being said, the band have garnered quite a bit of split controversy. While many people, including the band’s namesake, aren’t fans of Greta Van Fleet, rock legends such as Slash have given the band copious amounts of praise.

Additionally, Greta Van Fleet are gearing up for the Grammys, where they are nominated for Best New Artist, Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song and Best Rock Album. You can check out a full list of nominees here.
