Guitarist in local Chicago metal band arrested for fatal DUI charge

Musician Sean Riley was jailed on Tuesday for allegedly running over and killing a pedestrian while driving under the influence of alcohol. The pedestrian, 55-year-old Jose Serrano, was around the 2700 block of North Avenue on Sunday night when he was struck by Riley. As specified by an off-duty police officer who witnessed the incident, Riley “didn’t appear to apply the brakes of his car or swerve out of the way of Serrano as he traveled 40 miles per hour.” Initially, he refused to take a breathalyzer test, but he then submitted six hours following the matter and failed with a blood-alcohol level of .161—twice the state’s legal limit of .08.

Riley is currently being held in lieu of $200,000 bail, which, if the bond is posted, he is prohibited to drive or use social media. The date of his next court appearance has yet to be revealed.

Sean Riley is the guitarist for Chicago-based metal group Bloodiest, who are currently signed to Relapse Records
