Law enforcement sources tell TMZ a call was made to 911 by someone in Adler’s home shortly after 6:30 pm Thursday night. Local authorities responded to the call for a possible suicide attempt at his home in Studio City, California.

When paramedics arrived, it was revealed that Adler had suffered a self-inflicted stab wound to the stomach.

“Upon arrival, LAPD officers determined that there was no crime and the incident was being treated as a medical emergency only,” Officer Jeff Lee tells PEOPLE.

The ex-drummer was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Sources tell TMZ they do not suspect that anyone else was involved in the event.

Adler was removed from Guns N’ Roses in 1990 due to substance abuse issues, struggling with drug addiction for decades.

He was able to rejoin the band after signing a contract stating he would refrain from drugs. However, Adler was removed from the band again later that year after his addiction continued.

In 2012, Adler made an appearance with Guns N’ Roses at their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Currently, the band are in the middle of their Not in This Lifetime tour.

Our thoughts are with Adler, his family and Guns N’ Roses at this time.
