'Halloween' is reportedly set to release a sequel as early as 2020
After some teasing from producer Jason Blum and Jamie Lee Curtis earlier this month, it’s been confirmed Halloween is getting a sequel.
The film revived the franchise last year and after bringing in huge numbers at the box office, it’s being slated to have a sequel arrive in 2020.

According to Collider, the movie is filming after Labor Day with Universal aiming for an Oct 16, 2020 release.
Blum shared a photo at the beginning of June of him next to Curtis holding an action figure of her character from the original series.

Both Blum and Curtis have previously expressed interest in a sequel but with today’s confirmation, Curtis’ involvement is almost guaranteed.
Judy Greer and Andi Matichak are expected to return in their roles as Curtis’ character’s daughter and granddaughter, though their deals haven’t been finalized. Very few other characters survived the last film, so expect Blumhouse Productions to introduce a whole bunch of new characters.
Some of Collider‘s sources say David Gordon Green will return in the director’s position and is writing the script.
As previously reported, the Halloween revival dropped last October. It was rated favorably by both critics and moviegoers. It grossed $254.3 million worldwide and was the highest grossing slasher film of all time.
The film ended up costing $10 million to make so it’s no surprise they’re trying to recreate that success again. Its opening weekend saw the movie earning an estimated $77.5 million, placing it second to IT as the biggest opening for a horror movie ever.
