Hear Halsey and Marshmello’s self-empowerment anthem “Be Kind”

Halsey may have dropped her album Manic just over three months ago, but she’s showing no sign of slowing down. The “You should be sad” singer just dropped an emotional new collaboration with the sweetly-helmeted DJ Marshmello

The new track is called “Be Kind” and deals with the emotional toll of questioning another’s motives in a relationship.

When Halsey is not belting acoustic ballads in a New Jersey fundraising benefit or donating 100,000 FDA-certified masks to health workers, the 25-year-old superstar is collaborating with other superstars.

Halsey dropped Manic in January which debuted ay No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Current Albums Chart and has already been certified Platinum in a number of countries, including the United States. The record also contains the hit “Without Me” which is 8x Platinum and the longest-running Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hit by a female artist of this century.

Marshmello had a tremendous 2019 with his 5x Platinum collab with Bastille “Happier” and the 4x platinum track “Silence” with Khalid

Now, the pair have teamed up for one incredible song.

Speaking on the song, Marshmello said he loves how it turned out.

“As soon as we finished the song, I was instantly obsessed,” Marshmello said. “Halsey and I connected and were both on the same page with what we wanted the final outcome to be! And it turned out great.”

“Be Kind” dropped earlier today (May 1) and stands to be the anthem of the month, if not the year. Check it out below.

“Be Kind” Lyrics

Wanna believe, wanna believe
That you don’t have a bad bone in your body
But the bruises on your ego make you go wild, wild, wild, yeah
Wanna believe, wanna believe
That even when you’re stone cold, you’re sorry
Tell me why you gotta be so outta your mind, yeah

I know you’re chokin’ on your fears
Already told you I’m right here
I will stay by your side every night

I don’t know why you hide from the one
And close your eyes to the one
Mess up and lie to the one that you love
When you know you can cry to the one
Always confide in the one
You can be kind to the one that you love
Ah

I know you need, I know you need
The upper hand even when we aren’t fighting
‘Cause in the past, you had to prepare every time, yeah
Don’t wanna leave, don’t wanna leave
But if you’re gonna fight, then do it for me
I know you’re built to love, but broken now, so just try

I know you’re chokin’ on your fears
Already told you I’m right here
I will stay by your side every night

I don’t know why you hide from the one
And close your eyes to the one
Mess up and lie to the one that you love
When you know you can cry to the one
Always confide in the one
You can be kind to the one that you love
Ah

I know it’s hard for you, but it’s not fair
Going sick in the head, tryna get you there
And I know it’s hard for you, but it’s not fair
It’s not fair
