Halsey says post-‘Manic’ tour break will let her do a “bit of growing up”

Earlier in March, Halsey said she thinks her Manic tour might be the last in a long time. It seems now we might know the reason why.

Halsey took to the stage in Dublin, Ireland on March 10 and addressed the crowd about her plans for the future.

For the past couple of weeks, Halsey has been traveling around the world supporting her most recent album Manic. She is set to head stateside for the North American leg of the tour this June.

It hasn’t been as easy ride to get to this point of the tour though. She faced backlash for some comments she made in New Zealand, her tour mates, Pale Waves, were in a severe bus accident that caused them to cancel their performances and the press hasn’t put her in the greatest of mindsets. Due to the latter, Halsey even threatened a press blackout because “no one can take a joke.”

Earlier this month, Halsey took to social media to say she thinks this will be her last tour for quite a while.

I think 2020 will mark the end of me touring for a very long time. Thank you for making the memories so special. I am cherishing every single night.

Thanks to her most recent show in Dublin, Ireland, we might have a good reason why. Halsey said she wants to take a break so that she can “can do a little bit of growing up.”

The comment came when she was addressing the crowd, discussing about how she watched a 16-year-old beg her to come perform in Ireland and now that same 23-year-old is probably in the crowd. Halsey has seen her fans grow, but they’re doing it much faster than her.

“I’ve watched some of you guys get married, get engaged, go to university. I watched a lot of you do a lot of stupid dumb shit too,” Halsey says. “The cool thing about it is that you’ve watched me grow up too.”

You guys have watched me date, a lot of people. So many. Like, a lot. You’ve watched me break up with a lot of people. You guys have watched me say the wrong thing at the wrong time, make friends with the wrong people.”

“But something’s started happening where you guys have started to grow up faster than I was…and I’m supposed to be the one who writes the songs that help you and stops you from making mistakes. But how can I do that if you’re growing up faster than me?”

“So, that’s why I’m taking this break. So that I can go away and I can do a little bit of growing up and come back and write you the best fucking album you’ve ever heard.”
