Halsey opens up on “deeply personal” songwriter award in acceptance speech
The award recognizes a young songwriter for making an impact on the music industry.June 14, 2019
We know Halsey is an incredible songwriter, but now she’s been recognized for her impact on the music industry.
The Songwriters Hall Of Fame Gala’s 50th annual event is honoring the singer with the Hal David Starlight Award.
The award is for recognizing a young songwriter making an impact on the music industry through their artistic works.
Halsey says the award is a tremendous honor because it was for her music instead of something superficial.
“You know, sometimes it’s kind of funny when you’re doing interviews and people want to ask you about who you’re dating and what you’re wearing,” says Halsey. “And you’re thinking to yourself, ‘Is anyone gonna ask me about my music?'”
