Halsey, the 1975, more join Planned Parenthood fight for abortion rights
Billie Eilish, Nine Inch Nails, Halsey the 1975, Foo Fighters, Vic Mensa and more than 130 other artists have joined a Planned Parenthood protest to fight against restrictive abortion laws.
Planned Parenthood’s music engagement campaign Ban Off My Body launched the online petition signed by dozens of artists as part of many upcoming initiatives to educate people on the need for safe and legal abortion access.

Planned Parenthood plans to call fans to action at upcoming music festivals to fight against restrictive laws against abortion.
This comes in the midst of many states passing restrictive laws against abortion access, such as Alabama, Georgia, Ohio, Kentucky and Mississippi.

The goal of the protest is to get half a million signatures on an online petition opposing bans by next Jan 22. That date is the 47th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court case that made abortion a right. You can sign that petition here.

Other artists on the list include CHVRCHES, Best Coast, Death Cab For Cutie, Third Eye Blind, Pussy Riot, K. Flay and more.
“I’m proud to be standing up for Planned Parenthood as they fight for fair and equal access to reproductive rights,” Eilish said of the protest to Billboard. “We cannot live freely and move fully in the world when our basic right to access the reproductive health care we need is under attack. Every person deserves the right to control their body, their life and their future.”
Many artists on the list have been outspoken in recent months about the bans. Eilish previously has condemned the laws, saying she has “no words for the bitches in the f–king White House.”
“Women should say, should do and feel and be exactly what they want,” Eilish said back in May. “There should be nobody else telling them how to live their life, how to do s–t. … It just makes me so mad that if I start talking about it, I won’t stop. Men should not make women’s choices — that’s all I have to say.”
Also, at Hangout Fest in Alabama this year, Matty Healy spoke out about the bans in a state with one of the most controversial laws about abortion.
“The reason I’m so angry is because I don’t believe [the ban] is about the preservation of life, I believe it’s about the controlling of women,” says Healy.
Healy continued, saying “you know what else is important? Freedom for women to do with their reproductive organs what they want.”

As for Halsey, when she released her single “Nightmare,” she also dropped a shirt. She donated 100 percent of the proceeds of it to The Yellowhammer Fund for abortion accessibility.
