Halsey shares YUNGBLUD painting, and it’s incredible

Art inspiring art is one of the most wonderful things, and that’s totally the case with Halsey and YUNGBLUD.

The singer took to Instagram to share what she’s been working on, which is a piece inspired by his “very cool face.”

She shared an image of her work, with the caption:

“started this portrait of @yungblud today cause he has a very cool face. and a very cool new single called “Loner” that came out yesterday. yay @ art that inspires more art.”

Halsey revealed the piece is acrylic paint on wood, and while she doesn’t typically use a knife, she tried it out this time.

She also revealed how she finds acrylic superior to oil paints:

YUNGBLUD later saw the work, which elicited an emoji-filled response:

“jus woke up too this. your just fuckin incredible . got me smilin like a dork”

YUNGBLUD talks new “Loner” video

Halsey mentioned YUNGBLUD’s new track “Loner,” which dropped a few days ago. The singer-songwriter (also known as Dominic Harrison) chatted with AP earlier this week about the new video.

Harrison explained that he wanted to use the video to take fans back to his Doncaster, United Kingdom, roots, describing the track and footage as a “hand-in-hand representation of where [he’s] from.”

“I’ve loved doing videos that have been stylized, character-filled and really intense, metaphorical and artistic,” he explains. “I just wanted this one to be grit, roots—me and nothing else. At the end of that three minutes, you know exactly who I am as a person and not as an artist [or] a character.”

He incorporated his friends and cousin in the fun, as he traveled from local spots such as the first venue he ever performed in, Norton Coronation Club, and his grandma’s actual living room.

The track also harkens back to Harrison’s roots as he was listening to artists such as Oasis, Blur and the Stone Roses while writing it. He even worked his musical influences in visually as the makeup he wears serves as a nod to Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger’s “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” look.
