Banish boredom with a new ‘Harry Potter’ site filled with activities

Fans of Harry Potter will be delighted to know J.K. Rowling and the partners across the entire Wizarding World just launched Harry Potter At Home. Its mission is to cast a banishing charm on boredom.

Harry Potter At Home is a new website that includes everything from Harry Potter articles and news, to games, puzzles, craft kits, audiobooks and much much more.

The coronavirus has shut down most industries, causing many to be quarantined inside their homes. We can only watch You or Tiger King so many times before we inevitably get bored. Well, J.K. Rowling, Scholastic, Bloomsbury, Audible, Pottermore Publishing, OverDrive and everyone at the Wizarding World website are here to help.

“For over twenty years now, Hogwarts has been an escape for all – for readers and fans, young and old,” the website says. “During the strange times we now find ourselves in, we want to welcome you back to Hogwarts, where you will find a friendly retreat for you, your family and those you are caring for.

To survive the boredom, the website is launching new content every day. This includes quizzes, op-eds, craft videos, and much more. Audible is offering Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in six different languages for free. Wittily, the website says, “Just like Hogwarts and its staircases, this page will be changing all the time,” regarding the content updates.

J.K. Rowling also announced a special open-license for teachers to be able to read all seven original books to their students. With most classes happening virtually, teachers were worried about licensing. They were not able to record themselves reading the books for students. No worries about that anymore.

Parents, teachers and carers working to keep children amused and interested while we’re on lockdown might need a bit of magic, so I’m delighted to launch http://harrypotterathome.com

The Harry Potter At Home hub aims to help inspire you, your family, your friends, and especially children all around the world to read for pleasure and enjoy the stories, as well as bring some magic-infused joy and entertainment to all the family. But the hub is also a place for those of you who have loved Harry Potter for decades: a place for you to feel the warmth of the fire in the Gryffindor common room or a much-needed hug from Mrs Weasley.

No need to hop on your Nimbus 2000 to check out Harry Potter At Home. That defeats the point. Nope, stay home, shelter in place and enjoy the warmth and nostalgia that Harry Potter brings. Young or old, new reader or a long-time fan, Hogwarts will always open its doors to you.

Visit Harry Potter At Home here. If you haven’t yet signed up for Pottermore, do that here and get sorted into your house, find out your Patronus and learn all the ins and outs of the Wizarding World.

Above all, stay inside and stay safe. If you don’t, the Death Eaters win.
