Stevie Nicks mistakes Harry Styles for NSYNC member

During last evening’s Rock And Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Harry Styles’ old band got mistaken for NSYNC by one of the most influential musicians in rock ‘n’ roll history. On accident, Fleetwood Mac’s witchy woman, Stevie Nicks got One Direction mixed up with the iconic early-2000s boy band.

According to NME, the mistake happened shortly after their performance when the two went backstage to do interviews and take photos.

“When Harry decided to make a solo record from NSYNC…not NSYNC, sorry,”  Nicks says. “I’m never gonna live that one down. One Direction.

“Anyway, when Harry decided to make a record, he could have gone one or two ways: he could have made a serious pop record, which would have been less of a risk, or he could have made a rock and roll record and take a risk, and he did.”

However, Nicks’ mistake comes as a surprise, as she once called Styles her “lovechild,” as previously reported.

“He’s Mick [Fleetwood]’s and my love child,” Nicks says. “When Harry came into our lives, I said, ‘Oh my God, this is the son I never had.’ So I adopted him. I love Harry, and I’m so happy Harry made a rock & roll record — he could have made a pop record and that would have been the easy way for him. But I guess he decided he wanted to be born in 1948, too — he made a record that was more like 1975.”

All embarrassing occurrences aside, you can watch the pair’s surprise duet performance of “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around,” below.

Last evening, Styles inducted Nicks into the Rock Hall for her solo career, giving a heartfelt speech to properly honor her legacy in music:

“She is forever current,” Styles says. “She is forever Stevie.

““Dreams” was the first song I knew all the words to before I even knew what the words meant—I thought it was a song about the weather.

“She’s so wise and serene; she sees all the romance and drama in the world, and she celebrates it. She’s the magically gypsy godmother that occupies all the space in between.”
