We last heard from Hatebreed back in February when they released the stand along singleWhen The Blade Drops.” Frontman Jamey Jasta teased that the single was a preview of what is to come from the metalcore band.

“This is just a taste of what’s to come and we’re definitely going hard on this one,” Jasta said. “The speed, intensity, and brutality that people have come to expect from us is on full display. Can’t wait to play this one live and see the pit erupt.”

Following the release of “When The Blade Drops,” however, things didn’t exactly go as planned. Due to coronavirus, Hatebreed were forced to delay the release of their new studio album.

Now, Hatebreed have officially announced that their new album Weight Of The False Self arrives Nov. 27. On Sept. 11, they unleashed the album’s title track which offers even more insight into what fans can expect from the forthcoming LP.

As guitarist Frank Novinec shares, the 12-track album greatly represents Hatebreed in 2020. However, Weight Of The False Self still includes sounds that day-one fans will be familiar with.

Weight of The False Self is a perfect representation of Hatebreed in 2020,” Novienc says. “A fresh onslaught of soon-to-be classics with all the elements that led you here since day one.”

Drummer Matt Byrne further promises Hatebreed fans that this new record is definitely worth the wait.

“There’s no shortage of beefy riffs and adrenaline-fueled drums on this record,” he says. “I’m proud to say that we will consistently provide a soundtrack to which you can mosh in your living room and destroy your apartment.”

Weight Of The False Self is the first full-length LP from Hatebreed since their widely-successful 2016 album The Concrete Confessional. For this new release, Jasta spent a lot of time searching for the thoughts he wanted to convey in these 12 songs.

“When writing lyrics and riffs, I try to be in the moment, getting a mental picture of my current reality in order to convey what I want to say,” he says. “Sometimes, I think my reality consists of two irreducible elements, expressed by the age-old interior battle of the dualistic self. The angel on one shoulder stands firm, providing reason, wisdom, and compassion while the devil dances angrily on the other, ranting with passion, spite, and dark desire. I often wonder if a truly centered mind is attainable, an effortless and non-dualistic state of equilibrium. Until then, I’ll just listen to both sides of my personality and hope I make the right choice.”

Ultimately, both Jasta and Hatebreed hope that listeners get something out of Weight Of The False Self, regardless of what the lyrics are intended to convey.

“At the end of the day, the listener will choose to hear what they want,” he continues. “But when I am writing, I imagine the voice of the angel to be a lil’ louder.”

Due to the pandemic, Hatebreed’s tour with Parkway Drive, Knocked Loose and Fit For A King has been rescheduled for 2021. More information on the tour is available here and the current list of rescheduled dates is below.
