Get a first look at Hilary Duff in ‘The Haunting of Sharon Tate’

Serial killer movies are all the rage right now, but the first trailer of The Haunting of Sharon Tate starring Hilary Duff looks nothing like the rest.

The film is based on the death of Tate, a Hollywood actress who was stabbed to death by members of the Manson Family. Tate was 26 years old at the time  of her death and eight months pregnant.

Duff plays the titular character in the psychological horror film. The Haunting of Sharon Tate covers the final days of Tate’s life.

According to Deadline, the film was inspired by an actual quote by Tate she gave in an interview a year before her death. She revealed she was having dreams about being haunted by ghosts. Additionally, she actually forshadowed her death at the hands of a satanic cult before her traumatic end.

Joining Duff in the movie are Jonathan Bennett of Mean Girls and Lydia Hearst of Z Nation.

Charles Manson, who died back in November, was the leader of the Manson Family cult. The cult was connected with the murders of actress Tate and several others. These murders occurred in Los Angeles during July and August of 1969.

The Haunting of Sharon Tate will be in theaters April 5.

This isn’t the only film dropping this year about the Manson Family. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood by Quentin Tarantino uses the Manson Family murders as a backdrop. The movie stars huge names such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie. It will be released in theaters July 26.
