Hayley Williams wants “vital and relevant” Grammys rock awards televised
The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards took place last night Jan. 26. Cage the Elephant, Tool, Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X all took home awards from the coveted music show. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see any of the rock awards because they weren’t televised. And Hayley Williams has something to say about it.
The Paramore and solo singer took to Twitter to compliment Eilish, but then stressed how important it is to have rock music on television and the importance of the genre as a whole.

The Grammy Awards were pretty normal last night with pop stars such as Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Beyoncé, Post Malone and the Jonas Brothers are being highlighted tremendously, with focus on their respective categories. Unfortunately, acts such as Bones UK, the 1975, Tool, Bring Me The Horizon, Gary Clark Jr. and I Prevail get lost in the shuffle due to the Grammy Awards pretty much neglecting an entire genre.
Well, someone within the genre doesn’t like that. In a series of tweets, Hayley Williams first started off by sharing a video of Eilish’s performance and complimenting here. But then, she stressed how important rock music is.
not able to watch tonight but i had to search the internet for this performance cause i knew this bish was gonna serve talent and delicious, buttery vox. congrats
@billieeilish & @finneas.

Grammy’s can go fuck themselves for not including Rock and Metal in the actual show pic.twitter.com/GJ3DTDHLTb

So TOOL won the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance, but of course it was in the rock genre, so it wasn’t in the prime time broadcast. I’m growing incredibly disappointed in the lack of equality when it comes to the music industry.

Agreed! Scratching my head as to why rock/alternative wasn’t represented at the Grammy’s. Diversify please! @RecordingAcad https://t.co/9w5hjvlZuS

I am often asked why I watch the Grammy Awards. Personally, I like seeing what’s happening in popular music, even if it isn’t my thing. What bothers me is the obvious bias against Rock and other genres in the the prime time telecast. That is some REAL bullshit. #MondayThoughts
