Hayley Williams confirms "there will be more Paramore shows" in the future

With her upcoming, solo debut Petals For Armor just months away, Hayley Williams is now talking about what she may be including in upcoming shows. If one thing is certain, it’s that the Paramore frontwoman won’t be including any tracks from her band on the setlist, but she did say they will be performing in the future.

Williams has been with the band since it’s inception in 2004. Since then, Paramore has released six full-lengths with their most recent being 2017’s After Laughter.

Last year, the frontwoman revealed that she didn’t know “what [was] next for Paramore” after she unleashed a silent song teaser that sent into a frenzy.

At the time, she was working daily on Good Dye Young products and projects, Williams wanted to assure fans she’s “always been a musician first.” But the band didn’t have anything locked in for the future.

“My first creative outlet was music and even though people are going to see me in this kind of space with Brian a lot more, I don’t want people to forget. I was like, ‘I’m just going to leave this here and see you guys on the flip side.’ I really don’t know what’s next for Paramore, but the guys and I just had dinner the other night at my house. I think we’re just really enjoying being friends and adult human beings at home by ourselves without music.”

In a new interview with Entercom, when asked what she would be including in her upcoming solo performances, Williams stated what she wouldn’t be playing.

“I’m not gonna work Paramore songs in because that’s very sacred to me and that belongs at a Paramore show.”

Even though she won’t be performing any of the band’s tracks, she did say they’ll be performing together again someday.

“And there will be more Paramore shows. Yes. Confirmed,” she states. “I think there’s already moments where we find ourselves fantasizing about the next Paramore project and we kind of have to stop ourselves because everyone’s so busy working on shit right now. I guess I feel very safe. I don’t need to bring Paramore into this and be like, ‘Hey, remember me I’m in Paramore’, because in about five minutes I’m gonna be back with Paramore.”

“The love of my life is Paramore and those are my best friends too. I feel like my creative life began because I met them. I wouldn’t really know what to do if I did something entirely without them because I don’t think there’s a bigger fan on this earth of them than me.”

Williams revealed that the title for the LP came from her first single “Simmer”. The specific lyric can be heard during the bridge of the track.

“I wrote ‘Wrap yourself in petals for armor,’ and it felt like it came from somewhere else,” she says. “Like, it didn’t really come from me. I didn’t mean to write it, it just kind of happened. It felt so right.”

More on Hayley Williams

Williams recently dropped a special lyric video for “Simmer,” her first single off her latest solo release.

Though all footage seen in the lyric video was recorded over the past year on a “cheap and faulty” camcorder. The picture quality adds to the aesthetic of the imagery.

The imagery shows the making of her first music video in the Petals For Armor anthology. It also reveals behind-the-scene-shots of her recording in the studio. The video was edited by Wesley Sanchez.
