He Is Legend go independent, launch crowdfunding campaign for new album

North Carolina rockers He Is Legend have fulfilled their contractual obligations with Tragic Hero Records as of the release of Heavy Fruit, their fourth LP, which was released during the summer of 2014. Now, the band is looking to try the independent route and have launched an Indiegogo page to allow fans to be a part of the process.

In regards to moving forward sans label, the band comments, “You may have noticed a change in us over the last few years. Since putting out 'Heavy Fruit,' which fulfilled our obligation to our record label, we have had a chance to regroup. In our travels we have found ourselves again.”

“Without the support of a record label, a lot of bands cannot stay afloat. At first, we broke a sweat not knowing how we would go about writing and recording our next project. We knew in the back of our minds that asking you guys was an option, but perhaps pride was keeping us from taking that leap,” He Is Legend admits on their campaign page. “After going over the numbers again and again, we have come to this. In the grand scheme of things, this is not an astronomical amount of money, and with your help we can make this happen. We think it is well worth it, considering what you guys get in return is a slamming new Legend record.”

You can check out He Is Legend's Indiegogo here, which has currently reached 24 percent of its goal with over 330 backers since its launch. Perks include everything from various formats of the finished album to a “'day in the life' experience with the He Is Legend crew to the show of your choosing.”
