Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory is not only the album that put them on the mainstream musical map, but it is also one of the most beloved LPs within their discography. In celebration of the album’s 20th anniversary, Linkin Park released the Hybrid Theory (20th Anniversary Edition). The exclusive release includes rare demos, unreleased songs, unseen artwork and more.

Now, it looks like FEVER 333 and grandson are joining in on the festivities. Both acts have recorded two covers of classic songs from Hybrid Theory for a new double A-Side Spotify Singles recording.

For the release, FEVER 333 took on Linkin Park’s hit single “In The End.” Frontman Jason Aalon Butler shares that “In The End” has stuck with him ever since he first heard it during his teenage years.

“‘In The End’ was the song that made me believe that rap and rock still belonged together,” he says. “I studied their tasteful marriage of the two styles from that moment on and created my own music with that in mind. I wish I could tell my 14-year-old self that one day I’d receive a DM from Mike Shinoda about him liking my music. I wish even more that I could tell my younger self he’d offer to share his talents and energy with me to make more music. I don’t think 14-year-old me would believe it, though. 35-year-old me still doesn’t.”

grandson decided to reimagine “One Step Closer” for the Spotify Singles release. He hopes that his cover of the classic song pays tribute to not only Linkin Park, but also to the late Chester Bennington.

“I first heard ‘One Step Closer’ when I was just a kid, illegally downloaded it off Kazaa when I was like ten and learned all of Mike’s verses,” he says. “Then 10 years later I played the Forum with Mike in front of thousands of people. Chester is an all-time great, and I could never try and sing like he does. We had to pitch the song down just so I could come close to hitting the notes in this song. I just wanted to try and pay homage and do this incredible song justice.”

FEVER 333’s Linkin Park cover follows up the exciting release of their new EP WRONG GENERATION. Butler exclusively told Alternative Press that the murder of Geroge Floyd and the protests that followed greatly inspired WRONG GENERATION.
