On Dec. 11, Kid Cudi treated fans to his highly-anticipated new album Man On The Moon III: The Chosen. Now, it looks like Kid Cudi is making history on the charts with his new release.

However, the record he recently broke on the Billboard Hot 100 is grabbing people’s attention for a good reason.

Since its debut, Man On The Moon III: The Chosen has, overall, been warmly received from fans, critics and new listeners. The 18-track LP, which includes features from Phoebe Bridgers, Pop Smoke, Skepta and Trippie Redd, earned quite a response on social media when it was released.

As well, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World fans have also shown their appreciation for the new album. As it turns out, Kid Cudi decided to include a clip from the beloved film in the opening of “She Knows This.” Naturally, Scott Pilgrim fans had a lot of things to say about the song.

Now, Billboard has finally revealed just how well Man On The Moon III: The Chosen did on the charts. This past week, it was announced that the new album has debuted at No.1 on Billboard‘s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart after selling 144,000 equivalent album units in its first week. This feat marks Kid Cudi’s third No.1 album on the chart.

Kid Cudi’s new album has also debuted at No.1 on the Top Rap Albums chart and at No.2 on the Billboard 200, behind Taylor Swift‘s evermore. However, it looks like Kid Cudi has also broken a major chart record in an unexpected way.

Beautiful Trip,” the album’s opening track, is now officially the shortest song to ever chart on the Billboard Hot 100. As an intro to the album, the song runs only 37 seconds long. Despite this, “Beautiful Trip” entered the Hot 100 at the 100th spot.

This record was previously held by Japanese comedian PIKOTARO‘s 44-second long song “PPAP (Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen).” That song went on to debut at No. 77 on the Hot 100 in October 2016.
