According to Variety, the Sex Pistols limited series is based on Steve Jones’ 2018 memoir Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol. Based on the novel, Pistol will depict Sex Pistols’ truly controversial career in music. From the international uproar that arose from Never Mind The Bollocks to the banning of “God Save The Queen,” Pistol is set to be a historically accurate fiction series for music fans.
This week, the official cast for Pistol was unveiled. Louis Partridge is portraying the legendary Sid Vicious in the limited series. The English actor recently starred alongside Stranger Things‘ Millie Bobby Brown in Netflix‘s Enola Holmes.

For Pistol, Partridge will be joined by Games Of Thrones actress Maisie Williams who is playing punk icon Jordan. As well, the show also stars Toby Wallace as Steve Jones and Anson Boon as John “Johnny Rotten” Lydon.

Along with them, Jacob Slater is playing Paul Cook while Fabien Frankel is portraying Glen Matlock. Nancy Spungen is being played by Emma Appleton. Meanwhile, Dylan Llewellyn and Sydney Chandler round out the cast as Wally Nightingale and Chrissie Hynde respectfully. Chandler is also part of the cast of Olivia Wilde‘s Don’t Worry, Darling starring Harry Styles and Marvel star Florence Pugh.
The six-episode series will be directed and produced by Academy Award-winner Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 28 Days Later). Craig Pearce, who created the series is executive producing alongside Frank Cottrell Boyce.
“Imagine breaking into the world of The Crown and Downton Abbey with your mates and screaming your songs and your fury at all they represent,” Boyle says. “This is the moment that British society and culture changed forever. It is the detonation point for British street culture…where ordinary young people had the stage and vented their fury and their fashion…and everyone had to watch & listen…and everyone feared them or followed them. The Sex Pistols. At its center was a young charming illiterate kleptomaniac – a hero for the times – Steve Jones, who became in his own words, the 94th greatest guitarist of all time. This is how he got there.”

Maisie Williams playing Jordan??? She’s about half her size and looks nothing like her! Will be interesting to hear what Rotten says about it. No one has been able to capture the venom & menace of the band.
