‘Hocus Pocus’ confirms original Sanderson Sisters for Disney+ sequel

Years after rumors started circulating that a Hocus Pocus sequel could be in the works, and it looks like Sarah Jessica Parker has confirmed it’s set to go ahead.

According to the actress, the entire original cast has signed on for the new film which will be landing on Disney+ whenever it arrives.

After the actress posted an image from the “I Put A Spell On You” scene on her Instagram account for Halloween, a fan asked about a possible sequel.

The actress happily responded, confirming she as well as Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy will be returning for a sequel.

According to Collider, Workaholics writer Jen D’Angelo is on board to breathe life into the script for the 1993 film follow-up.

Previously, rumors of Hocus Pocus 2: Rise of the Elderwitch surfaced several years ago followed by the rumor of a potential TV remake on The Disney Channel.

The TV remake was reportedly bringing in an entirely new cast, which fans, as well as Midler, thought was a bad idea. She eventually told People at the New York Restoration Project’s Hulaween party, “I know it’s cheap. It’s going to be cheap!

While both of these remakes never made it past the rumor phase, it looks like the proper sequel everyone’s been waiting for is coming to life.

Disney+ is slated to launch Nov. 12 but it’s unlikely the new Hocus Pocus film will be ready this year. You can find out more and sign up for the streaming service, here. No further details about the sequel are known at this time.
