How Brand New helped Thrice reunite

It’s true: Brand New played a role in Thrice deciding to reunite. According to guitarist Teppei Teranishi, he and frontman Dustin Kensrue going to see the band during a show on their West Coast tour helped spark the conversation.

“We're good friends with [Brand New], so we started talking to them,” Teranishi told Live Nation. “At that point they were on a two-week West Coast run, and we were asking about what it was like to tour like that. That was the catalyst of starting to think about coming back, and doing it at a capacity that makes sense for everybody.”

He elaborated on Brand New as a whole, saying, “They're an enigma. I feel like they've done everything wrong—they don't do interviews and they don't give a crap about anything—but somehow they've been so successful. I think it's rad.”
