It looks like a new Instagram feature may soon be on the way that seems pretty comparable to the macOS and iOS Photo Booth app.
After FaceApp‘s age filter resurfaced and quickly found itself viral again, it’s no surprise that Instagram would seek out ways to up the selfie game.
App researcher Jane Manchun Wong uncovered the unreleased feature that essentially places the user in front of a “green screen.”
Wong took to Twitter to share a couple of screenshots from the feature, which is apparently called “Background.”
The feature will allow users to select a photo from their camera roll and use it as a background for their Stories camera.

It’s currently unclear if users will be able to use videos as a background or if it is limited to static images only.
Wong also uncovered an AR sticker effect in the works.
According to the app researcher, “It’s like Music sticker but for AR Effects If you snapped a Story with a AR Effect, Instagram will provide a sticker for that effect so you can share it out.”

The release date for the feature is unknown, but we are eager to see how users will bring this “green screen” effect to life.
