Instagram is finally changing its feed and making it more chronological

The Instagram change we’ve been waiting for is finally happening. (Kind of.)

Instagram announced that it’ll be making changes to the feed, “including an adjustment so that very old content does not get bumped up higher in feed,” as Buzzfeed reports.

A spokesperson for Instagram told Buzzfeed News that the changes are aiming to make your feed feel “more fresh,” saying you won’t miss the moments you care about—and ensuring the posts you see are timely.

“So if your best friend shares a selfie from her vacation in Australia, it will be waiting for you when you wake up.” Incredible.

Instagram explains that over the next few months, they’ll be sharing more about the improvements they’re making.

But don’t get your hopes up too much. Instagram’s spokesperson told Buzzfeed that they have “no plans” to go back to the “old, completely chronological feed.”

But this is a step in the right direction, and hey, they could change their minds—right?
