We’re all undeniably amped up for It: Chapter Two, but the legendary Alamo Drafthouse is going a step further than most with a screening just for clowns.
The legendary theatre chain is going to welcome everyone on Sept 6, so long as they’re “dressed like a clown.”
The theatre’s website says moviegoers are “encouraged to come dressed as a clown – the wig, the makeup, the oversized pants and suspenders, the blood-curdling makeup — and sit through this coulrophobia-inducing fright fest with a theater full of fellow clowns.”
The clown-friendly screenings are happening all over the country, but you can check to see if they’re happening near you here.
Highly specific screenings aren’t new for the theatre chain, as they have done so for movies in the past. They also did this clowns-only screening for the first It movie.
They received backlash from an all-women screening of Wonder Woman from disgruntled men.
“Apologies, gentlemen, but we’re embracing our girl power and saying ‘No Guys Allowed’ for one special night at the Alamo Ritz,” the Drafthouse said. “And when we say ‘Women (and People Who Identify As Women) Only,’ we mean it. Everyone working at this screening – venue staff, projectionist, and culinary team – will be female.”

More on ‘It: Chapter Two’
While director x has done a fantastic job creating the new movie, Stephen King reached out to contribute to the new film.
“It was absolutely huge. For me, it would be unthinkable when I was 12 or 13,” the director said when speaking to Total Film. So when the author read the first draft of the sequel, made a few notes, and requested the addition of “one all-new scene,” Muschietti listened. You don’t tell Stephen King that he can’t write It”
