‘It: Chapter Two’ covers hate crime, domestic violence scenes from novel

The It: Chapter 2 trailer arrived this week and speculation over what scenes from the book is already starting.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Gary Dauberman confirmed some scenes from the novel that will show up.

The introduction to the later timeline involves a brutal scene of a hate crime against a gay boy who is murdered by Pennywise which will show up in the new film.

“It is the first attack in present-day Derry and sets the stage for what Derry has become,” says Dauberman. “It is the influence of Pennywise even while he is hibernating, and it’s pure evil what happens to Adrian. These bullies working through Pennywise was important for us to show.”

The violent introduction to Beverly’s adult life involving a horrific domestic violence scene will also show up in the film.

The scene is alluded to in the trailer through bruises shown on Beverly’s arms. In case you haven’t seen it yet, watch the trailer below.

Teasers for It: Chapter Two have been plentiful in the lead up to the film’s release, but fans aren’t the only ones excited.

The master of horror, Stephen Kingrevealed he’s seen the film and hyped it up to fans on Twitter.

Between King’s tweet and the cast teasing us all with their red balloon posts, the anticipation for the film’s first trailer has been high.

The film also apparently includes a scene with “the most blood that’s ever been in a horror film,” according to actress Jessica Chastain.
