Animators at LAIKA confirm they’re creating merchandise based on their vibrant, stop-motion films

Yep, you read that right. LAIKA’s vibrant characters will finally be jumping from the screen to the real-world with brand new merchandise. (via AWN.com)

According to the Animation World Network, LAIKA is broadening its licensing program to start producing consumer products, including toys, collectibles, apparel, accessories, novelties, paper goods, publishing items and digital/interactive games. And we can't wait to own some ourselves!

Behind such films as 2009’s Oscar-nominated Coraline and Oscar- and BAFTA-nominated ParaNorman in 2012, LAIKA’s stop-motion animation knits together artistry and storytelling in an incredible way. They’re simply hoping to continue to inspire their fans by partnering with Striker to further advance their experience with the films off the screen.

“We are thrilled to be embarking into the world of consumer products as LAIKA’s rich, vibrant and colorful themes and characters are perfectly suited for multi-category products,” Brad Wald, LAIKA’s CFO and head of business operations, said, reports AWN.com.

“In the near future, LAIKA’s products will be available in various retail outlets and channels as well as on our website. As with all things LAIKA, everything will be about quality, just like our films.”

LAIKA has always led the creative game when it comes to film creation, and we’re sure the same will be said about their merchandise once it finally hits stores. We’ll be anxiously counting down the days until we can get our hands on some Coraline-inspired merch.
