Jack White calls out Rolling Stone, Foo Fighters, more at show in Boston UPDATED

Jack White has now issued a statement through his publicity firm (who, as pointed out by Rolling Stone, also represent Foo Fighters) claiming that there was a minor equipment malfunction on stage while he was performing, “and in an effort to keep his audience engaged, he made a joke!” You can read the full statement below.

“Dear dream-makers of the media….

Last night Jack White made a joke on stage! 

There was a minor equipment mishap, specifically with his guitar, and in an effort to keep his audience engaged, he made a joke! It was meant to be funny and self deprecating: “hey sorry, you’re stuck with just me up here…” vs the Foo Fighters who have three guitar players on stage and regularly play stadium shows.

Jack has the upmost respect for the Foo Fighters and communicated with Grohl this morning.   

So if you’ll let us, we’ll all continue with our day and we assure you: All is well in the rock n roll world.”

Jack White has never been one to stifle his voice, and his self-proclaimed “Kanye West-esque rant” last night during his show at Fenway Park in Boston proves just that. Somewhere near the beginning of the set, as Pitchfork has reported, White started his diatribe with a comment on how a majority of performers nowadays don't use microphones with cords, and then went straight into bashing Foo Fighters for simply having two guitarists. The singer/songwriter claimed the reason the rock outfit have two guitar players “playing the same parts,” is so if one plays the wrong note, the other can cover.

White then called out Rolling Stone for their recent coverage of Taylor Swift, list-based content and various other coverage aspects of the company. He concluded with, “Okay, I'm officially supposed to stop now because this is becoming a Kanye West-esque rant for Rolling Stone.com. Because apparently nowadays, you aren't allowed to speak to your own fans about anything, lest it be a rant. So forget ISIS, forget the war in the Middle East, forget any problems at home, forget gay marriage, forget everything you ever thought about everything. This not a rant, this is just me saying, “Hello Cleveland!””

In case you missed it, earlier this summer White performed a show Dublin’s Royal Hospital Kilmainham and during his set the venue pulled the plug and turned off the PA due to curfew. Nevertheless, that didn't stop the former White Stripes frontman, as he kept on playing anyway.
