Jamie Lee Curtis would be "happy" to return for a 'Halloween' sequel

We recently returned to Haddonfield, Illinois thanks to the release of 2018’s Halloween, and following its release, fans have been curious to see if the recent movie would be getting a sequel.

While there’s no clear-cut answer as to whether or not we’ll be getting a sequel, it appears that star Jamie Lee Curtis wouldn’t mind coming back to reprise her role.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Curtis expressed that she would be open to making a comeback to the franchise if a new movie were to come out.

When asked, she revealed that she wasn’t entirely sure of what the further plans of the film series would be, saying:

“I have no idea at this point, today, I have no idea,” said Curtis. “I would make an assumption that, if David Gordon Green has a story to tell, that the people involved with the movie would encourage him to tell it. I haven’t been told whether or not he has a story to tell and whether or not he would include Laurie Strode in the telling. Really, time will tell. I know David is a busy guy.”

While she isn’t sure that she would be included in a sequel, there is one thing she is sure about: the fact that she would be happy to play Strode again.

“I’d be happy to do it, sure,” she said. “This was an extraordinary experience. David was a fantastic director, writer, but obviously this 2018, 40th anniversary, was Laurie’s story, and obviously there are now other people’s stories that would need to get told. But Laurie’s story was told beautifully this year, and I would have no way of knowing how they would incorporate her into future.”

With the confirmation that Jamie Lee Curtis would come back to the role, we’re pretty excited to see what the future holds for the Halloween franchise.

In a separate interview with EW, producer Jason Blum shared that he’d be “100 percent”  down to make another Halloween movie.

Given the recent success, that gave Halloween the second biggest opening for a horror movie ever, it wouldn’t be crazy to imagine the team behind 2018’s film would be up for doing another one.

The 2018 Halloween movie:

“The Shape” finally made his long-awaited return to the big screen, and besides the nightmares that he’s brought, he also brought scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis, the shape himself Nick Castle, and the mastermind behind it all, John Carpenter with him.

Castle reprised his role as Myers along with newcomer James Jude Courtney who was recruited to give the shape quick, cat-like movements.

The sequel follows a crew of filmmakers as they investigate the events of Halloween 1978. They enter the prison where Michael Myers is being held and taunt him with the famous mask. Myers escapes and seeks revenge on Strode.

Of course, the films have had a long history and with this film, it appears that fans will have to forget everything that happened in the franchise’s previous plot lines, including those of Rob Zombie‘s 2007 and 2009 remakes.

Halloween will be available on streaming platforms on Dec. 28, and DVD/Blu-ray released on Jan. 15.
