Jared Leto just emerged from a 12-day meditation retreat in the middle of the desert. 12 days ago was March 5. That was before Coachella and SXSW were postponed and canceled, before nearly every major tour was postponed or canceled and before coronavirus rocked the United States and the world to its core.

Thus, Leto had no idea. His retreat allowed no communication with the outside world. The Thirty Seconds To Mars singer and prolific actor emerged into a world that is drastically different than the one he left just under two weeks ago.

If you’ve been keeping up with any news, or even if you exclusively look at memes, you’ve heard of coronavirus. Jared Leto has definitely heard of coronavirus too just not to the scope he probably thought possible.

The past two weeks we’ve seen states and major cities implement business curfews and public gathering regulations. Grocery stores are selling out of essential items and toilet paper for some reason. The NBA, NCAA tournaments and MLB have all been postponed or canceled and Hollywood is taking a shellacking with theater closures and production stoppages on major films and series. But no one could have predicted this.

Leto took to social media to report his feeling on the world to which he has returned.

Wow. 12 days ago I began a silent meditation in the desert. We were totally isolated. No phone, no communication etc. We had no idea what was happening outside the facility. Walked out yesterday into a very different world. One that’s been changed forever. Mind blowing – to say the least. I’m getting messages from friends and family all around the globe and catching up on what’s going on. Hope you and yours are ok. Sending positive energy to all. Stay inside. Stay safe.

It isn’t that odd to think that people living in isolation have no idea about the circumstances of major nations right now. In fact, it has been making the rounds on social media that the people living in the popular Big Brother house also have no clue what is happening in the outside world because they are allowed zero contact with it.

We’re sure the Suicide Squad actor is incredibly aware of the situation now though, given the state of affairs. It makes you wonder if ignorance really is bliss when it comes to situations such as these.

More on Jared Leto

Jared Leto recently posted a video and images of a rock climb that could have gone terribly wrong. The 30 Seconds To Mars frontman says he “nearly died.”

Leto was mountain climbing at Red Rock with professional climber Alex Honnold when he saw that a sharp rock above him was cutting into his rope.

“Not to sound dramatic, but this is the day I nearly died,” the singer tweeted. “Took a pretty good fall climbing with @AlexHonnol at Red Rock. Looked up and within seconds the rope was being cut by the rock while I dangled some 600 ft in the air. I remember looking down at the ground below.”

“It was a strange moment – less fear, more matter of fact, and slightly melancholy. The adrenaline came after, when I got back on the wall. But we made it through and lived to see another day.”

The tweets also came with a photo of the cut rope and a video of the moments after Leto realized the rope was fraying. Check them out below.

We’re certainly glad that Jared Leto is okay.
