Jared Leto missed his chance to sign Billie Eilish and FINNEAS—here's how

It looks like Jared Leto was one of the individuals who saw Billie Eilish and FINNEAS‘ potential long before they were Grammy-winning artists.

This week, the Thirty Seconds To Mars frontman revealed how he missed out on signing the duo before their rise to fame.

Years ago, Jared Leto was introduced to an unknown brother-sister duo. It turns out that that duo was Billie Eilish and FINNEAS who were just starting to leave their mark on the music industry.

This week, Leto revealed to James Corden on the Late Late Show what his first impressions of Eilish and FINNEAS were.

“I met them through [film producer] Emma Ludbrook and [agent] Tom Windish, I believe,” he said. “They weren’t signed, and I thought that maybe I would try and sign them, they were so incredibly talented and just special people. The music is one thing, but I think they’re just incredibly intelligent, really empathetic, just really good people, and I quite like them a lot.”

In fact, he was so impressed, he asked them to perform a few songs at a star-studded dinner party he was hosting.

“I said, ‘Hey, will you guys come and play a couple of songs?’ and they were, like, ‘Yeah, sure,’ and they showed up with a Guitar Center p.a.,” he continues. “[They] played the most heartbreakingly beautiful music with, like, you know, it shouldn’t have sounded that good, it was impossible that it sounded that good.”

Among the guests that night was Leonardo Dicaprio who was equally impressed by Eilish and FINNEAS.

“I remember Leo DiCaprio was there and a couple of other people and they were just, like, ‘How did you find these people and, like, ‘who are they?’ Everyone was just jaws on the floor, 12 people max at my place in the hills. Yeah, just great people. I’m huge fans, too.”

Despite Eilish eventually getting signed elsewhere, she has still bumped into Leto over the years. Back in 2018, she joined Thirty Seconds To Mars on stage at Music Midtown where they performed “Hurricane.”
