Jared Leto claims he's never seen 'Suicide Squad' despite starring role

Jared Leto, frontman of Thirty Seconds to Mars and Hollywood actor, apparently hasn’t seen Suicide Squad, the film in which he played a pretty important role in. Yeah, like The Joker. Remember him?

The DC Comics flick placed Leto with actors like Will Smith (Deadshot) and Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) and while the film didn’t fare so well with critics, it amassed quite a large fan base when it comes to moviegoers. Critics argued, however, that they found Leto was underutilized as the devilish but debonair Joker, a sentiment echoed by many fans of the comic book character.

Leto was infamous for completely getting into character while shooting the movie, but what did he think about his own performance in the movie? Speaking with Syfy, Leto actually let slip that he apparently never watches any movie he stars in, no matter the role. That’s extremely hard to believe, especially if you’re as much of a perfectionist as Leto seems to be, but his reasoning makes sense, at least.

“No, I never did,” Leto explained. I just think with watching your own films, it can be too self-conscious of a process. You either like what you did and you’re prone to repeat it, or you didn’t like it, and it can make you self-conscious. I’m not sure how much win there is for me. But I read the scripts, so I know what’s going to happen.”

So there you have it. It appears Jared Leto himself didn’t even watch his Joker performance, or pretty much any movie he’s been in at all. Right now, rumors are still flying about a possible Suicide Squad sequel, which he may or may not be appearing in. We’ll have to wait and see, as Leto hasn’t yet confirmed anything.
