Back in 2018, an exposé with MetalSucks detailed accounts of several women coming forward sharing their experiences with Torres, some of which used pseudonyms to protect their identities. The history of the allegations began in 2006 with some victims being as young as 13 at the time of their assaults.
Following the multiple reports on the situation, Blood On The Dance Floor’s merch store on Big Cartel was pulled from their site.
Then, HuffPost wrote another article on the topic bringing the total number of potential victims from 16 to 21.
The majority of the allegations say that Torres forced them to perform oral sex. Of the women coming forward at the time, some said Torres wouldn’t let them stop until their “mouths bled”. The other seven women reported that Torres either molested or raped them.
Back in March, Chris Hansen was discussing the details of his investigation into Onision and mentioned that Vanity was also on his radar.
“Dahvie Vanity is on our radar here at Have a Seat with Chris Hansen and I promise you I’ll take a really good, hard look at it. We’ll be tackling that topic as we move forward in all these investigations.”
Now, he’s sitting down with makeup mogul and musician Jeffree Star to discuss his Dahvie Vanity investigation.
You may be asking yourself how is Jeffree Star involved. Well, Blood on The Dance Floor owes much of their mainstream popularity to being affiliated with Star. They were on two tours together and Star even collaborated with BOTDF musically.
Star prefaces the interview with a few of his thoughts on Torres.
“Dahvie has always been horrible,” Star starts. I was happy that people are finally getting a voice because back in the day I don’t think a lot of people took things like this serious. The subject matter that we’re going to discuss today and everything that he’s been accused of. People back in the day did not take it as serious as they do now. Which is so horrible. So I’m glad that things are really coming to light and at the end of the day, the goal is for him to be sitting in a prison cell.”
The interview begins with Star discussing the early years of his music career and how he believes Torres got into making music because he was copying Star. Hansen also asks that looking back, if things that Star saw anything Dahvie did that would horrify him today.
“Oh absolutely, the things that I’ve seen were very offensive,” Star says. “And looking back, it was the way he was such a master manipulator at making things seem not as crazy as they were. I’ve witnessed him be very inappropriate with people underage. Have I witnessed an actual crime? No.”
Star also discusses some of the things he knew were happening while on tour.
“He would bring moms and daughters on the bus and sometimes there would be threesomes. Sometimes he would have sex with the mothers. This is what his band members would tell me when I would leave the bus”
Star talks about his relationship with Torres and what the rumors around Torres’s behavior were at the time.
“You know when you meet people and they always have a weird vibe? That’s what I always got from him [Torres].
Star also elaborates on his tweets from 2012 towards Torres about being a “child molester” but emphasizes while he believed most of the rumors to be true, he never saw an actual crime.
Hansen lets Star tell his stories about working with Torres. But also, asks Star many times if he had ever seen anything illegal.
“What you’re telling me today, is that you never, ever saw him commit statutory rape,” Hansen asks. “No, 100% not. I’ve never seen a sexual crime in person ever. And, it’s offensive that people would suggest that,” Jeffree Star replies.
Star touches on his music career throughout as well. He talks about getting involved in horrible contracts and finally wanting out.
Star ends by saying “If there’s anything I can ever do moving forward to help Dahvie Vanity be in jail, I am here. I know a lot of people whether you don’t believe me or already had a preconceived notion about me or you really truly are listening to what I’m saying today. It’s me. It’s my truth, whether you believe it or not. I’m so sorry everyone has been affected by this person. If anyone was a fan through me I’m so sorry and we know justice will be served and I cannot wait for that time.”
