Jennifer Tilly denounces ‘Child’s Play’ remake: “Ummm…no.”

Jennifer Tilly, who played the killer doll Tiffany in the Chucky franchise, has broken her silence regarding the Child’s Play remake. However, her response is far from positive.

Tilly took to Twitter yesterday to denounce the remake. She made her debut in 1998’s Bride of Chucky.

New “Chucky” movie? Ummm…no,” Tilly says in a tweet. “Tiffany and I are gonna sit this one out.  #NotmyChucky

Additionally, Tilly retweeted the Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting, John Squires who explained the backlash for the film’s remake.

Recently, the remake unleashed the trailer for the film. The trailer depicts a more high-tech Chucky doll that wreaks havoc. However, the film doesn’t give a full view of the doll, leaving viewers begging to see what the new version will actually look like.

To build even more suspense, the franchise launched a cartoon-centric creepy toy website and blood-soaked holiday e-cards and wallpapers. There has been lots of buzz about the film, especially after the creator of the original film was upset about the reboot in general.

“MGM retained the rights to the first movie, so they’re rebooting that,” original Child’s Play director Don Mancini says. “They asked David Kirschner and I if we wanted to be executive producers. We said no thank you, because we have our ongoing thriving business with Chucky. Obviously my feelings were hurt. Ya know, I had just done two movies… forgive me if I sound defensive, (they) were both at 83 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Even though they didn’t get theatrical releases, they were well regarded. And I did create the character and nurture the franchise for three f*cking decades.”

The Child’s Play remake is set to hit theaters this coming summer on June 21.
