Billie Joe Armstrong, Joan Jett and more honor fashion icon Jimmy Webb

Jimmy Webb, beloved stylist and buyer at New York City’s Trash And Vaudeville and more recently his own shop called I NEED MORE  has passed away. The cause of death has not yet been reported. However, it was known that Webb was battling cancer.

Webb impacted many notable musicians from Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong and Henry Rollins to Blondie‘s Debby Harry and Joan Jett. All of which have paid their respects to the late icon.

Trash And Vaudeville has been a mainstay in Manhattan’s East Village since 1975, and none of its employees were more beloved than Jimmy Webb. The store is known as a clothing provider for the punk rock community and other counter-culture movements.

Unfortunately, its shining star in Webb, grew a bit dimmer with his passing.

Back in February, Webb held an event at his own store I NEED MORE which was attended by Rollins, Duff McKagan (Guns ‘N Roses), Debbie Harry, and more notable rock stars.

Rollins recently spoke of the event with the New York Post

“I flew out from LA; I had to be there for Jimmy,” Rollins said. “He was not doing well, and I had no doubt that it would be my last time seeing him. Cancer is a hell of a thing.”

Harry also spoke with the Post saying “We are all going to miss our wonderful friend Jimmy Webb. There goes a lovely unique NYC character. I feel lucky to have known him.”

Other have paid tribute to their late friend as well. Skid Row‘s Sebastian Bach, Slash, Good Charlotte, Adam Siska (The Academy Is…), actress Maureen Van Zandt and fans also paid their respects.

Webb was only 62 years old. He is remembered as being kind, eccentric, caring and one of the greatest stylists and people you would ever meet.

In an interview Webb where Webb was asked what scene he represents, he responded perfectly.

“My rock scene is in the streets of New York. I don’t know if I had a scene, I just lived rock and roll. Rock and roll is in my heart, it’s in my spirit, it’s forever and always. It was there probably since the day I was born[…] The spirit of rock and roll is in the soul.”

Rest easy, Jimmy Webb.
