Jimmy Eat World cover Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together"

Jimmy Eat World performed a cover of Taylor Swift's “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” last night at the House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio.

This isn't the group's only recent foray into Top 40 pop covers. As you may recall, singer Jim Adkins also filmed a solo acoustic cover of a Rihanna song last week for NME.

Watch the breakup track kings of the emo scene take a stab at Swifty's own quintessential breakup song, below (captured by Scott Heisel).

Though Jimmy Eat World might have only lately begun covering “WANEGBT,” it's hardly the start of the band's (strictly platonic) love affair with the country pop singer- and the feeling is mutual. Adkins joined Swift as the guest at her Arizona stop on the singer's 2011 Speak Now tour to perform “The Middle,” a song which Swift had already been covering for several years.

And earlier this spring, Adkins performed a cover of Taylor's “Love Story” with a young girl diagnosed with cancer, at a local benefit in Arizona:

Hardly the first band to declare #TeamTaylorSwift, Jimmy Eat World join the cover song ranks of The Summer SetA Rocket To The Moon, Dia Frampton, Artist Vs Poet, Alex Goot, We Were Sharks, Paradise Fears, and many, many more. Even Taylor's pal Hayley Williams has gotten in on the fun- to perform live with the singer in 2011 much like Jim Adkins did:

Jimmy Eat World are currently in the midst of a world tour to promote their latest album, Damage. Check out a full list of dates here.
