Jon Bon Jovi really can’t stand reality TV, it would seem. During a recent interview on Australia’s The Sunday Project, the longtime Bon Jovi frontman lashed out at reality royalty like Kim Kardashian West and The Real Housewives franchise. But is the musician’s potshot at the Kardashians—and reality programming in general—just a bit too late?
“I think it’s horrific we live in that world and I can tell you I’ve never given sixty seconds of my life, ever, to one of those ‘Housewives of blah blah’ or Kardashians,” he told journalist and TV presenter Lisa Wilkinson on the show, as reported by ten daily. “I don’t even know their names,” he adds. “I’ve never watched sixty seconds of their show.”
And the Bon Jovi leader dug even deeper with a shot at Kim K’s provenance, the 56-year-old singer criticizing the reality star’s start in filmed entertainment. “What’s going to be in your autobiography? ‘I made a porno and guess what? I got famous,'” he says of the middle Kardashian sister. “F*ck sorry, I’ll pass.” Watch some of the interview below:
It’s not the first time a rocker has dissed the celebrity cast of Keeping Up With The Kardashians and their ilk. Last year, musician Corey Taylor revealed that his band Stone Sour‘s tune “Fabuless” was born from dislike for the Kardashian crew.
“God, there are so many shows that fill me with so much hate and anger,” said Taylor at the time. “It’s why I try not to watch too much television anymore. But, obviously, the one that [‘Fabuless’] is really aimed towards is The Kardashians.”
And Slayer guitarist Gary Holt once lamented the state of things where “people … are becoming superstars for doing nothing.” He argued that “Kim Kardashian was a closet organizer and then she did a sex tape and became famous.”
