Josh Dun gets marriage advice from The Rock after wedding invite denial

twenty one pilots drummer Josh Dun is approaching one year since proposing to longtime girlfriend and actress Debby Ryan. While the couple hasn’t disclosed any details regarding wedding plans since then, we do know one of the drummer’s guests won’t be able to make it as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson hit him back on Twitter.

Clearly a fan of the wrestler-turned-actor, Dun has reached out to Johnson for advice in the past. Back in 2015, he tweeted, “@TheRock hate to ask but can I get a little encouragement on this beard I’m trying to grow? this is so hard to do.”

Johnson was happy to oblige, telling the drummer, “Yes just stay focused and give beard rides often. I hear that promotes hair growth. Good luck bud.”

Four years after bonding over beard-growing, Dun has returned to Twitter to invite Johnson to his wedding with a simple “hey would you want to come to my wedding?”

Obviously a busy man just like Dun, The Rock respectfully declined his invite but offered up some advice.

“Thanks brother and congrats. I can’t make it but remember the most important 5 words – ‘yes honey you are right’ Trust me. #tattooedyoda ??”

Fans were loving the interaction with many laughing at the fact that The Rock might not have even known the wedding date before his denial.

More on Josh Dun

Back in December 2018, Dun proposed to Ryan in the cutest, most Josh Dun-like way possible. “I found a treehouse in the woods in New Zealand,” Dun wrote in his Instagram post. “And proposed to my girl. She my dude for life. I love you Debby.”

The following day, Ryan shared some of the same images with a heartfelt post about her engagement and love for Dun.

My dude asked me on a date. I said yeah because I always want to go on dates with him. Then he asked me to be his forever dude. He does things well, and right. His timing has pressed us and never failed us. He’s sincere and fun and disciplined and strong as heck and a nerd and a rockstar and a good midwestern man and a silly shirtless boy, and his family is endlessly warm and delightful and are such champions.

I have two parents and a brother; they’re superheroes and they’re my home. They’ve been the only thing that moves my needle with the fierceness of deep empathy. I have never found that out in the world. I guess I figured it wasn’t a connection you could stumble upon, only something you could only be born into. Falling in love with joshua was discovering it in the wild. Building it with him, building in certainty, infinite in wonder. Our own lil family.

Feels like growing up and moving through life is just evolving through different types of complicated. He is where all the voices narrow into one sound. My only simplicity, where the important things are clear and the other things aren’t that important. He’s my heart outside my body. He’s a cold water awakening and a warm bed; he’s the place I can rest. Dudes for life. It was a really good date.

twenty one pilots recently wrapped up another leg of the Bandito tour, changing their logo at its conclusion and sparking a slew of new fan theories. Dun will join Tyler Joseph for a handful of holiday shows this month followed by 2020 festivals. A full list of dates is here.

Ryan just kicked off season 2 of her Netflix show, Insatiable, which is available to stream here. Johnson is gearing up for the next installment of the rebooted Jumanji series, Jumanji: The Next Level. The film hits theaters Dec. 13, and you can get more information here.
