Even before Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them debuted in theaters, we had already learned of its sequel, and then plans to launch the rest of the five-part series.

And even before we realized Johnny Depp would make an appearance in the inaugural film, it was confirmed that he would star in the sequel as Gellert Grindelwald—a childhood friend of Albus Dumbledore who would also become one of the world's most evil wizards.

However, today we were pleasantly surprised to find out that the role of young Dumbledore will be played by none other than Jude Law.

This will pair Law and Depp alongside each other, as the sequel's focus will follow the adolescent relationship between Dumbledore and Grindelwald.

But that's not all—Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts author J.K. Rowling notes that during their youth, Dumbledore found himself in love with Grindelwald. However, after growing apart, Dumbledore became shocked to see his friend grow into a villain.

Rowling states that “you will see Dumbledore as a younger man and quite a troubled man. We’ll see him at that formative period of his life.”

In the past, she's spoken out about Dumbledore's sexual orientation, claiming, “Dumbledore fell in love with Grindelwald, and that added to his horror when Grindelwald showed himself to be what he was.”

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them grossed $813 million in 2016. The film starred Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol and Dan Fogler—all of which will be back for part two.

David Yates is set to direct the Warner Bros. sequel, while Rowling serves as both the script writer and producer, with a handful of additional producers working with her.

The second part of the series is expected to make its way to theaters on November 16, 2018.
