Juggalo makeup is outsmarting facial recognition technology

Insane Clown Posse fans might have found the ultimate undercover disguise with their Juggalo makeup. 

Apparently, Juggalos are able to avoid facial recognition technology. Yes, it’s a real thing.

Most facial recognition technology identifies areas of contrast around the eyes, nose and chin to compare with a database. The black paint completely redefines someone’s key features and makes it impossible for them to be recognized. 

One Twitter user discovered that facial recognition technology misidentified Juggalos’ jawlines.

However, Apple’s Face ID is able to use depth perception to identify a person. That means someone can still unlock their phone if their face is covered in makeup.

Back in May, GWAR and Sylar were added to the 20th annual Gathering Of The Juggalos lineup. 

The festival will also feature Ghostemane, Tech N9ne, Butcher Babies, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Jedi Mind Tricks, Shakewell, Mac Sabbath and more.

In addition to performances, the gathering features free camping, carnival rides, side shows, wrestling and much more. There will also be a Juggalesque Burlesque, return of the Juggalo Night Court and several vendors.
