Halsey collabs with Juice WRLD on “Without Me” remix

Halsey and Juice WRLD teamed up to reimagine Halsey’s mega-hit “Without Me,” and we are so here for it.

The singer teased the new version earlier today, with the track hitting streaming services at midnight.

Halsey also released a seven-inch special edition vinyl for “Without Me.” Side-A will include the original track while Side-B features an Illenium remix version.

The vinyl is available for preorder here, with purchases expected to ship April 19. Upon purchase, you will receive digital versions of both of the vinyl’s tracks as well as the reimagining featuring Juice WRLD.

“Without Me” is the first No. 1 single for Halsey’s solo career having previously reached it with her blink-182 shout-out on the Chainsmokers’ “Closer.”

According to Halsey’s tweet, the rapper actually asked her to be a part of the track, which was released in celebration of hitting No. 1.

“Nothing quite like celebrating a #1 by having one of your favorite artists ask to jump on it,” Halsey says in a tweet. “Without Me ft. @JuiceWorlddd is out tonight @ 12am EST.”

Halsey also opened up about Juice WRLD helping her get through what “Without Me” is about:

“When the events that inspired ‘Without Me’ went down, this artist helped me through it all. Now that the song is #1 this only seemed fitting to release… thanks @JuiceWorlddd”

The singer actually covered Juice WRLD’s hit “Lucid Dreams” on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge in November.

She picked that particular cover because she loves Juice WRLD and described that track as “poignant.” She noted that she grew up on emo, and the genre can be heard in many current hip-hop artists’ music such as Juice WRLD, Post Malone, Lil Uzi Vert and Trippie Redd.

“I grew up on emo music,” Halsey says. “Emo has such an influence on modern hip-hop right now and R&B. Everyone’s drawing from this emo band world, and it’s so cool for me because it’s like, I love hip-hop and I love emo, and this collaboration of the two merging is like my wildest dreams,” she continues.

This isn’t the first time Juice WRLD collaborated with some of our scene favorites. After teasing the song, the hip-hop artist collaborated with Benny Blanco and Panic! At The Disco’s Brendon Urie for “Roses.”

Blanco and Juice WRLD have more than 50 tracks in the works, but “Roses” is the first that’s been released thanks to the idea of recruiting Urie.

“When this whole wave started with the emo rapping with the—everything goes in waves. And all these kids, Juice WRLD, and all these type of guys, they grew up worshiping these guys. The whole Warped Tour movement, I was like, how has no one done this yet? How has no one put together the emo dudes with the emo rappers? How has that not happened? Why is no one doing this? Am I the only guy who’s thinking this?

“And I asked Juice, and we have this record. It was actually the first record we’ve ever made. We’ve probably made 50 records, but it was the first one we ever made and I always loved it so much and I was like ‘Bro, how are we not putting the dude from Panic! At the Disco on this, Brendon Urie?’ And he was just like ‘Dude, you know him?’ And I was like ‘Yeah.’”
