Baker has decided to spoil all of us today with not only news of her signing to Matador Records, re-releasing her debut album, going on a short tour through the midwest, but the singer has also released a new single. “Funeral Pyre” is the title track for Bakers 7″ coming out on March 17.

The B-Side of that 7″ will be “Distant Solar System” which was also recorded during the Sprained Ankle sessions. That 7″ will be dropping on March 17 and can be preordered here.

Baker recently talked about “Funeral Pyre” for NPR's All Songs Considered.

“I feel like I would have put myself into an unfavorable or unhealthy position for this person and maybe recognizing from an outside perspective that that destructivism is a more healthy thing to do than to stay in it for the sort of, romantic, admirable belief that subjecting yourself to this kind of sacrificial, fatuous love would be more of the right thing to do,” said Baker on the meaning of the song.
